General Motors Co. said Sunday it will expand its Shop Talk garage display at the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, where it also will display a performance-oriented Chevrolet Malibu turbo and Impala. The trade-only show runs Oct. 30-Nov. 2.
"We pay close attention to the reaction our concepts receive, because the feedback helps determine the viability for producing new accessories and even special-edition production vehicles," Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing, said in a statement.
The Chevy brand's showcase will include four bays of demonstrations including a crate powertrain systems area featuring Chevy Performance's engines, transmissions and controllers in an open chassis of a 1988 Monte Carlo SS; displays of new Camaro ZL1 and 1LE upgrade kits; live personalization installation demos on a Sonic; and a build-your-own crate engine assembly area, where customers can watch technicians demonstrate what would be required to build a supercharged LS9 crate engine.
GM on Friday said it would focus much of its display at SEMA on Chevy's hot-selling mini, small and compact cars. The brand will show several concepts, including an upscale Cruze, that help show buyers how they can make the vehicles more personal and unique.
